Scientists are developing methods to track carbon dioxide substance that sank in the ground.

Technology Labs scientists in the United States Department of the National Energy are developing methods of tracking carbon dioxide gas in soil. To track the deadly gas, scientists use a colorless liquid called perflourocarbon tracker.

The performance of this fluid has been tested in the northwestern region of Mexico. There, researchers injected the liquid into the soil layer perflourocarbon trackers. This tracker will then follow the movement of carbon dioxide and the outcome turns on the layer of soil that contains a lot of coal.

According to Brian Strazisar, a physical scientist at the National Energy Technology Laboratory in Pittsburgh, the gaps that exist in the underground dwelling place of carbon dioxide.

“The basement and the cave is where it is stored to reduce emissions of greenhouse gas buildup in the atmosphere,” he said.
